The Chinese Herb Yi Zhi Xiang is the dried aerial parts of the vernonia plant (Vernonia cinerea (L.)Less.). Vernonia itself is a genus of approximately 1000 species of small flowering plants that grows in fields and roadsides throughout temperate regions of the world.
