What is Yi Wu Gen?:
The Chinese Herb Yi Wu Gen is the dried roots of the Elaeagnus plant (Elaeagnus oldhamii Maxim.), a flowering evergreen shrub native to Fujian and Guangdong provinces and Taiwan. The roots are harvested in winter and prepared for use as medicine by cleaning, drying and slicing.

Yi Wu Gen dispels wind and dampness to treat bi zheng (painful obstruction syndrome) as well as muscles aches and pains. In this action it is also used to treat chronic arthritis (in combination with other herbs) and postpartum wind (cold) invasion.
Yi Wu Gen reduces swelling and inflammation in the case of traumatic injury.
