What is Wan Dian Jin?:

The Chinese Herb Wan Dian Jin is the dried root of a deciduous shrub in the Aquifoliaceae (holly) family commonly known as rough-leaved holly—Ilex asprella (Hook. et. Am.). It is not to be confused with root of Ilex pubescentis (aka hairy or downy holly– Ilex pubescens (Hook. et. Arn.) from which the Chinese Herb Mao Dong Qing is derived.

Wan Dian Jin regulates and tonifies Lung qi to address chest congestion and labored breathing due to qi (and blood) stagnation. Clinically this might present as a person feeling fatigued, having a feeble cough, and speaking with a weak voice.

Wan Dian Jin clears heat and eliminates toxins in the lungs and can be used to address lung infections and breast/lung abscesses.

Wan Dian Jin regulates qi and promotes diuresis and can be used in formula to address gout and edema.
