The Chinese Herb Meng Chong is gadflies/horseflies (Tabanus bivttatus Matsumura) that have been either boiled or steamed and sun-dried for use as medicine.

Meng Chong enters the Liver channel to break up severe blood stasis that can present clinically as amenorrhea, irregular menstruation, and/or postpartum bleeding (with palpable masses) as well as traumatic/sports injuries with bruising and pain.
