What is Lian Zi?:
The Chinese Herb Lian Zi is the dried seeds from the sacred lotus plant (aka water lily—Nelumbo nucifera Gaertz.)

Lian Zi tonifies the Spleen when its ability to transport and transform has been compromised, leading to water accumulation in the intestines and chronic diarrhea. In addition to treating the root of the problem, its astringent nature also helps to stop the leakage of fluids (i.e. Lian Zi also addresses the symptom of diarrhea).
Lian Zi tonifies the Kidney and consolidates jing (essence) to address spermatorrhea, premature ejaculation, and profuse, clear, or white vaginal discharge.
Lian Zi nourishes the heart and calms the shen (spirit) to address insomnia, palpitations, anxiety, and dream-disturbed sleep.
