The Chinese Herb Hai Feng Teng is the dried caulis of the kadsura pepper vine (Japanese pepper vine– Piper futokadsura Sieb. Et Zucc.), an East Asian variety of pepper vine that wanders across the ground or climbs up the trunks of trees in tropical forest habitats throughout Southeast China and across Southeast Asia.
