The Chinese Herb Ji Guan Hua is the dried flowers of the cristate (crested) variety of the celosia (cockscomb) flower (Celosia argentea var. cristata).

Ji Guan Hua clears heat and cools the blood to stop bleeding in various parts of the body depending on the herbs with which it is combined (e.g. nosebleeds, vomiting up blood, intestinal bleeding, hemorrhoids, and uterine bleeding).
Ji Guan Hua consolidates essence (jing) and retains body fluids to stop diarrhea, dysentery, and vaginal discharge—because of this action, the use of this herb not compatible with damp-heat presentations.
